Sustainability

Every step of the way

Sustainability is about more than just hitting net-zero. We put long-term thinking at the heart of everything we do—from how we treat our clients to how we deal with a broken laptop.

Upcycling hardware

We aim to pass on all our old hardware in good working order to people who will use it.

Reducing emissions

Our first target is compliance with PAS 2060—an internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality, developed by the British Standards Institute. That means accurately quantifying our energy usage, minimising it where possible, and offsetting it where necessary.

Energy-efficient hosting

The single biggest energy cost for a company like D3R is hosting. That's why we are moving all non-critical infrastructure to greener providers and introducing systems to automatically scale back on unnecessary usage.

Giving back

D3R has a longstanding relationship with Computers for Charities. We designed their website for free and are currently giving it a facelift. D3R also makes annual donations to local charities—chosen each year by the winners of our Christmas quiz.
"Carbon neutrality means not adding new greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to the atmosphere."
